The Midwest’s most Progressive Clinical Laboratory Service

Microbiology Lab

Clinical microbiology is the study of microorganisms for the purpose of medical treatment. Microbiology labs are critical components in analyzing hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and are the go-to laboratories for infectious disease testing for any healthcare setting. NTL’s microbiology testing services include bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, virology, and mycobacteriology.

Our microbiology testing laboratory receives all types of specimens from our associated healthcare providers. Sample types include serum, sputum, saliva, CSF, urine, stool, or wounds. In short, our expert personnel perform microbiological testing to isolate and identify pathogenesis. This process involves culturing and analyzing any infectious organisms present in the specimen. A sensitivity report is created to determine what medications are best for eradicating the invading organism from the patient.

Other microbiology testing services, depending on the organism, may require acid-fast staining, PCR rapid tests, probe tests, or other assay methods. We corroborate with other NTL service groups to develop the most efficient, cost-effective processing and deliver high-quality, detailed reports.

About Our Microbiology Testing Services

Accuracy

Steps to detect error and perform corrections are a vital part of microbiology lab tests. Incorrect reports can be detrimental to the treatment of the patient. With our remarkable Quality Assurance Program, we deliver clear, conclusive results that our physicians trust. Maintaining our gold-standard principles generates trusted, accurate reports, and healthier patients.

Aseptic technique

Throughout the testing process, our microbiology laboratory team ensures specimens are handled carefully, preventing both cross-contamination and personnel exposure. Aseptic technique is closely followed in addition to disinfecting and sanitizing surfaces, equipment, and other objects. These are crucial measures needed to avoid cross contamination, ensure staff safety, and uphold our reputable standards of efficiency and integrity.
