What is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus is a type of respiratory virus. COVID-19 is an infection caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. It is spread through breathing in virus particles released into the air when an infected person breathes, talks, coughs, or sneezes.

What are the Symptoms of Covid-19?

The majority of people infected with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate respiratory symptoms or may have no symptoms at all. However, some become seriously unwell and need medical attention. The main symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • A high temperature
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A loss or change in taste or smell

Other symptoms can include chills, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle aches, sore throat, headaches, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

When should I get tested for COVID-19?

You should get tested for COVID-19 if:

  • You have COVID-19 symptoms (even if you have been fully vaccinated)
  • You have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19
  • You have attended a large gathering and are un-vaccinated
  • You are traveling in the US as per Chicago travel advisory guidelines
  • For international travel

Are Walk-ins Accepted for COVID-19 Testing?

Yes, we accept walk-ins for COVID-19 testing.

How Long Will the COVID-19 Testing Appointment Take?

A COVID-19 test at one of our facilities takes about three minutes if you have already filled out the appointment form. It may take a little longer if you haven’t filled out the form prior to arrival.

Is the COVID-19 Test a Drive-up Procedure?

At most locations, our COVID-19 testing is a drive-up procedure. However, our Oak Lawn location is a walk-in facility.

Do You take Insurance for COVID-19 Testing?

Yes, we take insurance for COVID-19 testing.

Is COVID-19 Testing Free?

Yes, COVID-19 tests are free for American citizens and legal aliens. The CARES Act covers any uninsured visit for these persons. Others may be charged a fee of $118 dollars for the PCR nasal/mouth swab.

What Kind of COVID-19 is Administered?

The COVID-19 tests we administer are nasal and mouth swabs at all locations. Swabs are RT-qPCR diagnostic tests. You have the option to add a serum test for antibodies at our Oak Lawn and Skokie locations.

How Should I Prepare for My COVID-19 Test?

To prepare for your COVID-19 test, please have your ID and proof of insurance ready at the time of your appointment.

How Will I Receive My COVID-19 Results?

You will receive your COVID-19 test results via a brief text message notification upon release of results followed by an email with a full PDF report suitable for travel, work, and school.

How Long Will It Take To Receive My COVID-19 Test Results?

It takes approximately 24-72 hours from the time it gets to the lab to receive your COVID-19 test results.

What Happens if I Test Positive for COVID-19?

If you test positive for COVID-19, adhere to the best practices as outline by the state of Illinois, quarantine, and then retest after the appropriate amount of time has passed. (Weekly is usually a good schedule until results come back negative).
